- Welcome to the newest version of Shirley's Creative Designs.
- This version of my site is created on a template from metamorphosis design, built and hosted by my daughter, Jennifer, who is a full-time college student majoring in graphic communication (web design/development) with emphasis in animation.
- While you visit my site, take a look at
her3" lady and gentleman doll clothes. - She has her own website as well, www.dreamangelsparadise.com, where she has an artistic portfolio of school work she has done, her photography and her comic books and characters.
New Year's Eve Day 2009-2010 and there's a new seamstress at work!
There's a story to this image: Christmas 2009, Grandpa got Ashley a Cinderella doll just like the one on the table in front of her in this shot. The set was one with 20+ pieces according to the packaging. I noted years ago that these dolls are nearly the same exact size as my 3" lady dolls and started a small collection of my own. I happen to have the same Cinderella - the one on the table in front of Ashley - but mine was a much smaller set. I pointed out to Ashley when she got her set that I could make dresses for her doll because she's the same size as my ladies. The news didn't really sink in at first. It's New Year's 2009/2010. I've shown Ashley this part of the site and she admired the dresses. I then found a very simple dress pattern I'd made quite a while ago and pointed out this light lavender short-nap velvet. I had to help her cut out the dress, but here she is happily sewing it together.
This is the final dress complete with its invisible snap closure. By the way, Ashley was 7 years old at the time this was made. She did all the sewing.
The theory behind these little character dolls (I claim no copyright to Cinderella or anything Disney related, she's simply a model, by the way) is that the stretchy plastic clothes will eventually become brittle and break. This has been proven by my pwn little collection of these dolls. So, I have created simple patterns such as the one modeled above to replace the broken dresses. The other dresses featured in this area will also fit this scale of doll.
